28 Days of Black History
28 Days of Black History is a personal initiative created to address a persistent gap in Black History Month observances. While February typically highlights a handful of prominent figures, this project expands the narrative to include the many Black Americans whose contributions have profoundly shaped our nation's history but rarely get their moment.
Over 28 consecutive days, I designed and published a full series of graphics across social media, each spotlighting a different figure. The visual system was intentionally designed to balance past and present, pairing historical subjects with a brutalist and maximalist aesthetic rooted in contemporary Black art and media, creating a visual language that felt both reverent and alive.
The series gained followers and sparked genuine conversation. Audiences responded not just with appreciation but with discovery, commenting that they had never heard of figures like Lucy Parsons before. That kind of engagement was the whole point.
